Travelling To The Cricket

5:40 am: Awoken by my mum I excitedly strapped my clothes on, collected my overnight bag and by 6:30 am we were out of the house.

9:30 am: Our plane touches down to overcast, foggy and cold conditions. As our chirpy steward invites us off the plane and we enjoy momentary peace between the plane and the bus I can see my breath.

11:30 am: Finally, after 5 hours of non-stop travelling we arrive the 1st Central County Ground Hove, and settle in to watch the final 15 overs before lunch. Derbyshire have started like a t20, 89-0 (15), however a Henry Crocombe double strike timed upon our arrival halts proceedings and the visitors are 125-2 at lunch.

1:05 pm: Bite to eat in Hove Place, before back to Hove to settle in to watching the afternoon session. Sussex require quick fire wickets t open up Derbyshire's vulnerable middle order whilst the visitors need this currently 36 run partnership to flourish and their captain to convert.

1:58 pm: Billy Goddleman gone for 52, absolute jaffer, warrants good applause and is exactly what Sussex needed.

2:45 pm: Tea fast approaching Sussex need to break this developing partnership between Matt Critchely and Wayne Madsen, primarily must focus on preventing Wayne Madsen from reaching his ton. Derbyshire can't afford a loss of another wicket now and should be eyeing up 300 before the day is out.

4:57 pm: New ball taken... Hunt Strikes! Amidst the dwindling, peaceful crowd and increasingly cold weather the down trodden defeated Sussex bowlers needed something, and Hunt's produced it! Madsen holes out to deep fine and the game's back on!

5:35 pm: End of day approaching, extra half hour's been taken, for Sussex the day couldn't end sooner. Derbyshire strolling along with four batting points.

6:01 pm: End of play total: 371-5
