"Runs On The Board?", "Wickets Galore!"

A disastrous start to the Bob Willis Trophy Final but is it all over?

Wickets tumble on day one of the Bob Willis Trophy final at Lords:

10:15 am: On a cold, nippy morning in lords Will Rhoades wins the bizzare green/red coin toss and elects to bowl first. "A cold overcast morning in Lords means you bat first. Well, that's what they say on TV anyways!" He jokes. On questioned on what he would've done Lancs captain Dane Villas states he would have bowled first however he equally stresses that it looks a godd surface and "Runs on the board are crucial in a final". Well, when he was dismissed for a duck his side drooped to 12-5. He would have barely been back to his seat in dressing room by the time Norwell picked up the sixth, 12-6! Wow! A minor comback proceeds this however Josh Bohannon holes to midwicket of Johal, his maiden first class wicket, and the sides go off for a short rain delay with the score 47-7. But, can Lancs dig their way back into this final? On the premis, potentially...

The quiet but utterly lethal Tom Baiely will be the crucial componnent for Lancs if indedeed recovery is an option. Helpful bowling conditions exsist at the moment and will remain for the whole five days, if we need them! So, if Lancs bowlers, the likes of Wood, Blatherwick and Baiely can dig their way to 100 runs or more than they will be tasked with picking a red cherry and using the conditions to their favour and unlocking the key to return success in this fixture. A for Wawrickshire with Lunch being taken they cannot get cocky, they must be determined and ruthless. Preventing any low order tail wiggle and digging in and being patient and diciplined in their bid for success in this match. Back to back trophies is very much on the cards as it is Laancs northern compatriots Durham who hold the man who can win a match after being bowled out for less then 70, infact they have and have had the two you require.

A short reminder of Lancs heroics and their ability to stick in for games and win with big results! But, Warwickshire's determined reliance and their highs of their championship win will make them more of a tough nut to crack, in this position with their bowlers on top and batting to come any chane of a Lancs win is very slight, but not impossible. However, with rain in the air and already disrupting play, Warwickshire's momentum consistantly haulted with overs being lost is the bit of luck and delay that could open up a draw or longer contest. But who knows, it is all up to the defiant 22 men named for this epic contest to which i will be glued to and i hope you will to!
