Tales from the historic five days at St John's Wood

Tom Bailey rocks back and hopes to pluck a short delivery over the leg side, with over 50 wickets to his name this season his form has been impressive however its his aggressive style with the bat earning him a first career 50 which has raised eyebrows, except this time it is one shot too many and it pops up off his top edge and rises high into the leg side and is chased after by Burgess, he makes up the ground and completes a spectacular diving catch and that is it, the double for Warwickshire.

Lost at sea on day one Lancashire collapsed out of the game being 12-6, bowled out for 78 it was next Rob Yates, Will Rhoades and Dom Sibley who charged forward making a treacherous wicket appear flat as they amounted a match winning 518. Lancashire were down trodden and beaten and never showed any real defiance in looking to catch up with the 440 runs they trailed by. Starts were produced however nothing finalized as they were bowled out second time around for 241 and lost by a mouth watering innings and 199 runs. An incredible unpredictable double completed by the mighty boys in blue not a bad season eh?

Sunshine in Edgbaston:
What a season, from down in the doldrums of division two in 2018, to going winless in 2020, to winning the red ball double in 2021. What an incredible turn around for Warwickshire it has been. To start the season many didn't give them hope of getting into division one, loosing to Durham in the first game of the season. They bounced back next week in Chelmsford but it was there blistering start with the ball in Derby whiich would go on to characterize their season, reducing Derbyshire to 7-3. They went unbeaten throughout May and after a t20 break they thumped Derbyshire by 191 runs to send them into July happy. They had to wait until August 30 to play again, in this time they would start top of Division one thanks to playing to good games against Notts. They drew with Lancashire in a rain affected game but were back to explosive starts with the ball in week 2 and 3, despite a loss to Hampshire bowling them out on day one for 89 was a huge morale boost and bowling Yorkshire out twice for totals under 200 in an emphatic win placed them on the right track for the championship. We don't need to say any more that hasn't already been said about their incredible heart pumping win against Somerset in Edgbaston, after that their next and final red ball match was in Lords...

Well, what a season it has been!!!!!!!!!
See you next year County Championship!!!!!
